Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

Every annual meeting Stepping Stone Church sets yearly goals for the church and its members.

This is NOT to work our way to God . . . because NONE OF US deserve, can earn, or merit God’s grace. As Scripture teaches us in Ephesians 2:4-5(NIV), “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

The Gospel of Salvation which is:

  • God created humanity perfect (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7; 2:21-22)

  • Humanity chose to disobey God (Genesis 3:6-7)

  • Humanity fell short of the glory of God, breaking the relationship with our Creator and becoming sinners (Romans 3:23)

  • Humanity has tried over the generations to make it right with God, but we can’t satisfy God’s standards (Ephesians 2:8-9)

  • God took on human form: Jesus ( John 1:1; 14 )

  • Jesus lived a perfect life satisfying God’s standards (2 Corinthians 5:21)

  • Jesus was pierced and crushed for our iniquities. The punishment for our sins was brought upon Him (Isaiah 53:5)

  • Jesus died on the cross to pay the wages of sin: death (Romans 6:23)

  • Jesus bodily rose on the third day to give us the life that will redeem us back to God (1 Corinthians 15)

Without Jesus, no one CAN  or WILL see God.
For Jesus is the  WAY, and the TRUTH , and the LIFE.
No one will SEE the Father  EXCEPT through HIM  
(John 14:6)

That is the true Gospel. We NEED  Jesus.

BUT to get closer to God, as the Scriptures say: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you…” (James 4:7-8, NIV)

OUR GOALS AS INDIVIDUALS:

  • Attend church every Sunday

  • Read through the Bible each year

  • Pray continuously

  • Get involved in a mission or goal of the church

  • Memorize one scripture per week

  • Give my 5 minute testimony at church

  • Participate in Bible study once a year

  • Invite one person to church each month

  • Disciple together with one person this year
